What We Do For Fun

All work and no play make Jack a dull boy. So here, in no particular order, is some information about what we like to do for fun.

There are so many interesting things to do and see near by our home. We love to travel various places in Texas, and go to Con Can every year at Memorial Day and Labor Day. Our favorite place to stay is Neals Lodges on the beautiful Frio River. To see how the river is flowing visit U.S.G.S. Frio River Flow at Concan. Not sure what these numbers mean? The River Oaks Lodge has a good chart here. Most of these were found with a Google search on "Frio River Country."

A couple of years ago we took a vacation to the Florida Keys and stayed at Hawks Cay Resort north of Marathon. It is great for families with kids. We went diving at the Bahia Honda State Park, a day park with plenty of parking and a concession stand that rents out equipment and has snacks. The Keys were just great, and are highly recommended for a family vacation.

I Golf, Therefore I Swear

I have a magnet on the refridgerator with that inscription, and it is fitting for my golf game. Houston is home to some of the finest golf courses in the world. Our mild climate makes it possible to play over three hundred days per year! One of our favorite golf courses is Bear Creek located on the west side of town. A close second is Memorial GC in beautiful Memorial Park. And don't forget the recently reconstructed Herman Park GC. This beauty is challenging for a municipal course. I enjoy playing Green Meadows in Katy, both because it is near home and also because it is affordable. Another fine course near home is The Golf Club at Cinco Ranch.

In the immediate area we have one of the best courses in Texas. Meadowbrook Farms golf club is rated number 25 in the state, and for good reason. This beautiful Greg Norman designed course will challenge even the most experienced golfer. Just south of Katy lies Old Orchard Golf Club. This beautiful 27 hole course is rated among the top ten daily fee courses in Texas.

When it's time for a little R&R you can always try a puzzle at Jigzone or games at Pogo. For even more sophisticated games look at The Station. Whatever suits your fancy you're sure to find it there.
